Triangle Center Renovations

admin
April 17, 2025

Thanks to State of Illinois Grants from our local State Legislators, Senator Sara Feigenholtz and Representative Margaret Croke, renovations to the Old Town Triangle Center are finally able to take shape. The Old Town Triangle Association has budgeted reserve funds to add to the grants already approved. But it is an old building and everyone knows that there are always unexpected situations that arise.

This effort began by removing all of the flooring, due to a layer of mastic adhering a lower layer of tiles. The building is now sporting a new leveled floor, not the final but the underlayer. Activities have resumed in the south room but the Gallery and offices are closed for the foreseeable future. The Office is temporarily housed at 1714 N Wells Street. And you are always welcome to visit.

We hope that you will consider making a donation to the Capital Campaign if you are planning to make charitable donations this year. This is the first major renovation of our building space and it is not likely t occur again for many years. We are making every effort to create a timeless design with more useful spaces for the entire community to enjoy.

There are many levels and options available. Please send an email to info@oldtowntriangle.com to schedule a time to discuss how we might work together. Any and all funding levels will be appreciated.

May 17, 2024

Many in the community are invested in the Fern Hill proposal. Here is a list of updates, news, and information regarding questions posed by the Triangle Board and the Historic District Planning and Zoning Committee and the resulting position that was taken.

Alderman Brian Hopkins, Old Town Triangle Association, and Old Town Merchants and Residents Association are cohosting a virtual meeting specifically regarding infrastructure improvements being proposed by the Fern Hill Company on the north side of North Avenue between Wells Street and LaSalle Drive. The meeting will take place on Zoom on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at 6:00 pm.

An April 23 2024 letter written by OTTA Board of Directors to Alderman Hopkins outlining the significant concerns shared by the majority of our members can be found here.

On March 5, 2024, a letter was sent to city officials requesting clarification of certain zoning rules at play in the Fern Hill proposal. To date, city officials have not responded to that letter (click here to view)

Triangle Center Planters

admin
May 3, 2024

The hanging window planters were becoming too difficult to maintain and they were limited to a season. The need to brighten our outdoor space remains. Four new, large planters will help fill the void and provide natural beauty to our setting. These large planters require a great deal more planting resources. Help us create a welcoming adornment for our building by making a donation here!
