The Old Town Triangle Association is working with the 18th District Police – Migrant Support Team to provide meals for the migrants currently staying at the Station. We are working as a community to pack bagged lunches that we will deliver on alternating Wednesdays, and will continue until otherwise announced. This is a great, easy way to get involved and help our community. Following these lunches we will look into the need of continuing this particular program.
Here’s how you can get involved: Lunch program follows. Scroll down to find out about other needs
Note: Our November 1st lunch quota is filled. Thank you for those who signed up!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Please bring all of the following items, with enough to feed at least 5 people. (So 5 complete lunch bags.) Each bag should contain: • Lunch meat sandwich on white or whole wheat bread/roll, cheese is optional but always a nice addition (no condiments); please wrap the sandwich or place them in a separate baggie. Due to storage constraints, it is ideal for the lunches to be packed in a gallon-sized plastic bag (like Ziploc’s). Or, you are welcome to use “traditional” plastic grocery bags.
• Individual cheese packs (string cheese or cheese balls)
• Small bags of snacks (no nuts, please)
• Servings of soft fruits (i.e. orange, banana, grapes)
• Individually packaged desserts (i.e. cookie, candy bar)
• Napkins/plastic bags
• Beverages are optional as there is bottled water in the station (i.e. juice box, can of soda, shelf stable milk or small water/sport drink) Due to lack of storage space, please keep beverage size under 12 oz. Note these are particularly requested by families for their children.
WHERE/WHEN DO I DROP OFF THE LUNCHES? Drop off will be at the Old Town Triangle Association on Wednesdays, starting at 9 AM and ending at 11 AM.
With everyone working together, we are hoping to be able to provide lunches to the estimated 50-150 migrants who are at the station on any given day.
HOW ELSE CAN I HELP? We need your continued support for these lunches, and have also learned of some additional needs within the community (Underlined areas are the highest priority): Food items (outside of the lunches) that are always useful include: individual snacks and cereals (the individual servings in bowls).
If you are unable to drop off food or items but would still like to contribute, you can make a donation by clicking here.
Laundry costs are high – we are attempting to offer cleaning of clothing and bedding to the migrants. One family for one week (about 45 lbs.- everything has been wet lately) costs about $40. Your donation of $20 or more in the Laundry section will help us to meet these needs.
Note: donations to the Old Town Triangle Association are tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law (OTTA is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization).
Thank you – in advance for your assistance. Please contact the committee at service@oldtowntriangle.com for any additional information.
