Hello LaSalle Community,
The rumors are true. To simply say it: We Are Getting A New Playground! A turf multi-purpose field, new asphalt area, a NEW playground structure, and other details as previously shared will be installed in the coming months to benefit our school and our children.
CPS received all the funds our school community raised from our recent fundraising efforts, which in combination with funding from the city and CPS will pay for a full replacement of our current playground. With the financial support of the Legacy Campaign we were able to put this project for the LaSalle community into motion and made this happen. We did it!
A huge Thank You to everyone who helped with the project, from advocating for the renovation, to making donations, and to those involved in all the planning and support it takes to get a large project like this started and completed. We truly could not have done this without a school-wide effort, which included many voices of the LaSalle community, including teachers, families, and neighbors.
The construction timeline for the project is being finalized at this time. Recent estimates we have been given by CPS has construction starting around the end of the school year, following the Old Town Art Fair. No matter when it starts it is likely that the final build-out will not be completed before the fall school year starts. We will plan for ways to ensure safe arrival, dismissal, recess, gym class, and other events, while minimizing the impact on the school and our neighbors. We will provide more updates as the schedule becomes clearer.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all of you who supported this project! And thanks in advance for your ongoing support and patience in this whole process. This will be a great benefit to our children, and we are thankful to have such a dedicated and engaged school community and local support to help make this playground project happen.
