Several teachers want to use the summer to recharge their engines and create their own art, but may come in teach a workshop. Dates have not been decided. 

We are offering Wednesday oil classes in the afternoon and evening.

Thursday Evening:

Old Town Community Chorus

Singing is the perfect way of bringing members of a community, young and old alike, together to create a thing of beauty which can then be shared with others in that community. 

Summer: The Chorus will return in the Fall

Monday Afternoon:

Figure Drawing and Painting Studio

Artists have the opportunity to hone their skills on their own, working directly from a live model.  One hour is devoted to quick gesture poses.  The focus will be longer poses for finished drawings and paintings.

Summer: This Studio will be available in the Fall

Tuesday:  Marie Kirk Burke

Tuesday:

Oil Painting

This class is a great opportunity for students new to painting as well as experienced painters.  Marie will teach color mixing, color relationships, glazing, light, composition, and concept. Students can work from photos or favorite objects.

Wednesday Morning:

 

Pastel Painting

Kathleen will emphasize the importance of design and value structure, with an emphasis on developing form through light and shadow.  Learn to edit information from photos to strengthen compositions.  Explore drawing, proportion, and color through direct observation of a model or still life.  Kathleen will demonstrate her pastel techniques, including toning backgrounds, on a variety of surfaces.  Prior pastel experience is not necessary, but basic drawing skills will be helpful.

Wednesday Afternoon:

Painting

This is a painting class for students of all levels of experience using oil, acrylic, or pastel.  Learn basic to advanced techniques with a modern perspective.  Didier will guide students according to needs, addressing technique, composition, color, perspective, and other visual elements.  Students work from photographs, sketches, or from their own imagination. 

Summer (10 weeks): June 19-August 14

Oil Painting

This class is for students of all skill levels who want to stretch their talents in oil painting. Roger is a versatile painter who can communicate his skills. Please register early to guarantee your spot in this popular class.

Watercolor Painting

Kathleen will share her understanding of watercolor and the skills needed to develop a personal painting style.  Expect to explore different materials to improve technique and drawing skills, how to simplify design through abstract shapes and use color and light to reflect mood and emotion.  Students will use photo reference in a meaningful way as well as work from still life.  The class will include demonstrations, critiques and plenty of one-on-one individual instruction.

Saturday: Tom Francesconi
 

Saturday Morning:

Watercolor

Tom uses a direct, representational approach to painting.  Through demonstrations and personal instruction the beginning painter will find Tom's sensitivity and experience invaluable.  Experienced painters will be challenged to stretch to new personal horizons.  Periodic group critiques are scheduled so all students may gain from the work of others.
