Tuesday Morning: Oil Painting This is a great class for students new to painting as well as experienced painters. Marie will teach color mixing, color relationships, glazing, light, composition, and concept. Students can work from photos or favorite objects. Wednesday Morning:
Pastel Painting Kathleen will emphasize the importance of design and value structure, with an emphasis on developing form through light and shadow. Learn to edit information from photos to strengthen compositions. Explore drawing, proportion, and color through direct observation of a model or still life. Kathleen will demonstrate her pastel techniques, including toning backgrounds, on a variety of surfaces. Prior pastel experience is not necessary, but basic drawing skills will be helpful.

Wednesday Afternoon: Painting This is a painting class for students of all levels of experience using oil, acrylic, or pastel. Learn basic to advanced techniques with a modern perspective. Didier will guide students according to needs, addressing technique, composition, color, perspective, and other visual elements. Thursday Morning:
Watercolor and Pastel PaintingThe beginning, intermediate or advanced student can improve their skills and explore their talent in a class guided by seasoned watercolorist, Kay Smith, Artist Laureate of Illinois since 1994. The class works as a group with photos or still life setup provided by Smith. Emphasis is on brushwork, color harmony and the student achieving his/her goal.

Saturday Morning: Watercolor Tom uses a direct, representational approach to painting. Through demonstrations and personal instruction the beginning painter will find Tom's sensitivity and experience invaluable. Experienced painters will be challenged to stretch to new personal horizons. Periodic group critiques are scheduled so all students may gain from the work of others. One Day Figure Workshop with Tom Francesconi Tom’s simplified and creative approach to painting the figure is enlightening and inspirational. Tom will begin the workshop by demonstrating a thoughtful gesture drawing that shows a concern for capturing the essence of a pose rather than relying on the burdensome task of duplicating exactness. Tom then will demonstrate his painting process with the aim of creating a figure study that delights and entertains the eye. Students will be exposed to such things as how to judge proportions, gesture drawing, value patterns, the importance of edges and the joy of fresh, inventive color. Students will have the opportunity to work from their own reference photographs or from those that Tom will have available. If you enjoy the challenge of painting the figure and want to improve your paintings, this workshop offers the student a wonderful opportunity. Space is limited. Sign up early!
